THE HISTORY
The first state-of-the-art carob processing plant in Crete, unique in it's kind, the
Haroupoergospasio, opened and remained in operation for twenty years.
The imposing stone building cost 95.000 Drachmas, a huge sum at the time. It operated between August and March between 06:00 22:00 and it featured 20-horse Diesel engines (the carob breaker is still there), employing 10 workers and having a capacity of 8-9 tons of carob processing per 8 hours. It manufactured three by-products, some for local consumption, though most were exported by ship across Europe. These are some of the facts that made the carob processing plant a trademark industry and the commercial nexus of Elounda. In the following years the space of the plant was used to install honing machinery and to store salt from the salt marshes, two more typical products of Elounda.

70 years later, in the same space, with respect to the carob processing plant, sitting against the background of the calm waters of the bay and enjoying an amazing view of Spinalonga and the rest of the island, has been converted into a one-of-a-kind live music restaurant that offers its customers treats from across Greece, unique quality delicacies, fresh fish, seafood as well as fine wines and drinks.

A fantastic selection of dishes from all over Greece. Some of my favourites, Shrimp Saganaki from Macedonia (shrimp with tomato sauce, feta and parsley) Ergospasio (sautéed fillet in butter, dried fruit and the chefs secret sauce) Stuffed Lamb Leg From Crete (lamb leg stuffed with cheeses, various peppers and rosemary) Lots of fresh fish dishes and fantastic selection of salads and appetizers.

A fantastic selection of wines approximately 50 wines to choose from. Central Greece, Crete, Macedonia, Peloponnese, Epirus, Thrace, Santorini, Lemnos. A good selection of Champagnes like Dom Perignon and Moet Chandon




A great selection of wonderful deserts to finish off that wonderful meal. A good selection of teas and coffees, alcoholic beverages.




I have been to this wonderful restaurant 4 times since it's opening and to me and my partner it is a breath of fresh air. The food is fantastic the surroundings have a cosmopolitan feel. You are surrounded by luxury and comfort. The service is offered with a smile and with true professionalism.  I will be visiting this restaurant every week, so I have awarded the Ergospasio Restaurant the Gold Award the highest award possible. I personally would recommend anyone visiting Elounda to visit the Ergospasio Restaurant for a fantastic dinning experience and for unbelievable value.
