Introduction
PAWS Crete is dedicated to the bad living conditions of the many (stray) animals and we help wherever we can. Our volunteers rescue mistreated, sick and dumped (stray) animals, mostly dogs and puppies. These dogs and puppies are placed in a foster home or in our shelter, where they can recuperate and regain their trust in people again. The dogs get a worming and flee treatment, vaccinations and provided with medical treatment if necessary and will be prepared for a life in a permanent family.

Karyn volunteer of PAWS found a dog last year and was adopted by one of her neighbours. This neighbour just left and went to Athens and left Able behind without saying anything and after a few days people notified Karyn that Able was wondering around the streets again. Karyn took Able in but she has trouble now because the neighbour on the other side of the road, the one she went to court with concerning the poisoning and assault case, has been calling the police and stating that Able is pooping in his garden this is totally crap because Able is staying in another garden.
Our story should start when we lost our own dog Teasha, she was only about 2 years old when she broke her chain and ran to the other side of the road. We think she was on her way back to us when she was knocked over by a speeding car and she died in our arms before we could even get her into the car to get her to the vet in Agios Nikolaos. We are still devastated about the accident and loosing our little girl, we had decided after this terrible loss that we would not get another dog until we move to a new home further away from such a dangerous road.
One night as I was checking postings on FaceBook I saw a picture, the one at the top of this page, the article was entitled "URGENT: Able needs a foster ASAP" I looked into the eyes of Able in the photo and I knew in all my being we needed to help this little soul. My partner felt the same way, so we decided to help by offering Able a foster home until PAWS could find a more permanent home for him. I think when me and my partner agreed that this would only be a fostering to help Able out, we both never believed this would only be a fostering. When we met Able, I looked at my partner and we both decided that we would adopt Able right on the spot, no discussion we both just knew it from the start without actually saying so.
Able, happy but in need of a permanent home
Our little girl, Teasha will alway's be in our hearts
Able's Story As Published On FaceBook
The point is that Karyn can't foster Able any longer and the shelter is full, so we are looking for a foster for Able. Anyone willing to foster Able? Please contact Diane Beijer or Karyn Patricia Duffy at FaceBook

Finding Able
Living With Able (Loukas)
The first thing we did before we received our new family member was to get a few important things in for the boy. The most important was a heavy thick chain, this will become obsolete when we move but for now it is so important as we do not want a repeat of the last accident. Able (Loukas) on the first day was quiet and really kept himself to himself, and spent most of his time outside. Over the next few day's he slowly started to come out of his shell, we have noticed just about every day he does something new, he gets a little more playful, he barks more especially in the garden at the tourists on the other side of the road to us.
Loukas (Able) on his first early morning walk
We see our boy Loukas as a gift, he gives us so much love and we see him growing every day. When we do move we will get another dog or even 2, we believe this will benefit  Loukas as well as making us happy by helping these sweet souls.

The dogs to the left are just a few of over 30 dogs looking for that special person or persons, please help PAWS find a good home for any of the dogs in care. At the time of writing this PAWS had to close it's gates as they are at bursting point. Please help, if you can not give a dog a home think about making a donation which will help taking care of these innocents.
