Many restaurants, tavena's and bars line the main street in Elounda as well as the main square of the village I have listed a few of my recommended places to visit when you come to Elounda which you can find here. One of the most visited tourist attractions can be found here, the island of Spinalonga (Kalidon) you may have read the best selling novel "the Island" by Victoria Hislop which was the main setting for her story. Many people who visit Elounda love the place so much they often end up coming back year after year and to a lot of people the village feels like a second home and indeed many decide to make it a more permanent home for themselves.

Elounda, a village of beauty and traditional values a place you can dream. Elounda is a place you can escape to from all those problems even if it is just for a couple of weeks. Plaka is a small village close to Elounda. Plaka has shops and tavernas next to the sea. It is a great place to unwind and relax and enjoy the flavors of Crete cuisine. Plaka is surrounded by mountains and has a large stone beach. Slowly Plaka is growing and more houses are being built. New businesses are also being opened in 2009.

Many people who come to Elounda are returning visitors, many of these people end up retiring in Elounda. To these people Elounda has always been a second home and many decide to make it their first home. Elounda is perfect, beautiful surroundings and the warmest temperatures in Europe all add up to a perfect location for a holiday or a new home.
